We all know how winter can make our houses dirty. Winter can leave your house with a salty, gritty layer that looks and feels dirty from top to bottom and all around. The winter weather can sometimes even cause damage to your home. The good news is spring is here!
Fresh air, flowers everywhere, earlier sunshine and later sunsets! It’s time to get rid of that grit and get ready to open those windows again. Getting rid of that winter build-up can be time consuming and overwhelming.
Where do you start? Where do you focus your time and attention? How can you get the most out of your spring-cleaning efforts?
Start with the bathrooms. A fresh start is needed here. We recommend taking out the winter décor (shower curtains, curtains, and floor mats). With everything out of the way, do a thorough cleaning of the tub, shower liner, tiles, and sink before bringing in the new season’s décor.
Next, move onto the bedrooms. Switch out your winter wardrobe for your warmer weather gear and organize your clothes by colors. This will help you to find them and can bring an added aesthetic appeal. Refresh your mattress with a vacuum before changing out the sheets, pillowcases, and comforters.
On to the kitchen. Clean out the cabinets, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, other appliances. This is a great time to toss outdated food before cleaning these spaces.
Last, but not least, the living room. Here, the focus should be on the furniture, curtains, bookshelves, cabinets, and carpets. Don’t forget details like light and ceiling fixtures, fans, wall switches/control panels, corners of the walls, doormats, baseboards, windows, and windows sills.
After all the cleaning is done, don’t forget to put your patio furniture outside so can enjoy the warmer weather in comfort. Make sure to clean and disinfect your outside furniture with warm water, soap, vinegar, and a clean cloth. This will help refresh them after a long winter’s storage and add to your enjoyment.
